Shelving units in these areas provide a necessary space saver service, but they and their contents also can prove to be extremely dangerous if not secured sufficiently.

When possible, all units should be "ganged" together. Each should be floor bolted and bolted into the wall studs or stabilized into the overhead girders.


Rows of shelves should be crossed-braced at the tops in order to support one another.
